Ep. 81: Tanked Man Walking
Hey FRs,
When the world is on fire, it's sometimes a relief to find humor in the casual ineptitude of the Trump administration. It's just so ludicrous it's impossible to look away.

When I read the Atlantic article on Kash Patel I couldn't help but think about this old man that walks around my neighborhood naked. Let me explain–
I live part of the year in Far Rockaway, NY, at the very edge of Queens. My block dead ends at the beach--a NYC beach but still a beach--and a lot of the folks in my neighborhood are elderly Jews and Russians. Most of them are lovely. Many of them yell at me when I take my daughter out without a sun hat. It's annoying but I get it. Some of them make questionable fashion choices, which I support, but there's one guy who walks the beach in a speedo pulled down (well below) the parts it is designed to cover. I strangely find it endearing that he still cares about tan lines, but there are children everywhere on the beach. If my kid has to wear a sun hat, she should probably not be subjected to an 80-y-o 'pee-nup,' as she calls them. For my part, I tend to have the Lucille Ball reaction above when I see him "out" and about. Like the Kash Patel situation, it's an uncomfortable mix of: "This is appalling!" "This is hilarious!" "This is dangerous?!"

I wouldn't be surprised if Kash literally ended up like the guy on the beach someday, just unabashedly wagging his weird-ass insecurities around in public instead of making some half-hearted efforts to hide it, like he's doing now. Just please at least make it funny, ok, Kash?
Meanwhile in Ohio: What Travis is Reading––
Every week on TFR we talk about how awful Vice President JD Vance is, but as fun/sad as that is sometimes we've got to let someone else take the mic –– enter Marilou Johanek from The Ohio Capital Journal with one of the more savage takedowns of JD that we've seen in a long time! Marilou doesn't just focus on JD's failure to get Orban re-elected in Hungary, but also his many failures from the past and a glimpse of more to come in the future.
