Ep. 67: Iran at the Crossroads

Hey FRs,

I tried to come up with some clever pun about the possible return to Iran of Reza Pahlavi, which was the focus of this week's show, but, with the blackout entering it's 8th day, it's just too bleak of a situation over there right now.

Aside from discussing the pros and cons of a possible return of the shah's son should the regime fall, the episode delved into the story of the Pahlavi dynasty and its long and ever-changing relationship to Iran. If that history is unfamiliar to you or if you're looking for a little more context to understand the ongoing protests, take a listen. Send it to a friend.

Seena and Travis also, of course, somehow found some laughs in the bleakness. Unlike me, these guys are professionals. They can find the funny anywhere. Even in JD's malicious mangling of the truth or Trump's incessant pursuit of poor Jerome Powell.

If you need a pick me up, I've been watching Jerome Powell shake his head at Trump's inanity all week. It's pure gold.

Meanwhile in Ohio: What Travis is Reading ––

As 2026 is already off to a chaotic start, it's worth asking our fellow citizens, our family members and ourselves how exactly will The United States' invasion of Venezuela improve our country's economy? It's a question that even Vice President J.D. Vance couldn't answer when he was asked on Fox News this past week, as we heard via the clip we played on the most recent episode of TFR –– it's also a question that Marilou Johanek from The Ohio Capital Journal tried to answer this week as well, one that she could only answer with three words: "Not at all."
